Greetings CMS Families:  Welcome to this week’s update.

GRATITUDE: A very hearty thank you to all parents and students for your commitment to Academic Excellence through your participation in Saturday Academy Session.  I’d like to especially acknowledge our students for taking ownership of their ACADEMIC CAREERS.  We’re looking forward to the next 3 Saturday sessions March  23rd April 13th / 20th.  You may register at this link:

STAR GOALS: We are taking our next STAR Math & Reading Tests this week.  Our grade-level goals are highlighted in yellow below. (You may view your student’s most recent STAR Scores by logging into Infinite Campus and opening the “SLDS Portal Link”.)


 STUDENT GRADES:  Parents, please continue to check your student’s Infinite Campus Grade Portal on an ongoing basis (at a minimum WEEKLY).  We need your support in managing students’ completion of assignments and projects.  Doing so will ensure each of our students earn their absolute best grades.  Please visit this link for instructions on how to access your student’s grades:  Infinite Campus Set-Up

CREDIT RECOVERY:  Credit Recovery Intersession is a program designed to help students gain additional competencies and  improve their course grades earned during the 1st Semester. Ultimately, it is an opportunity for students to stay on track for promotion (Please refer to attached retention guidelines).  The students are able to improve their grades from a 55-64 average to a 70 average or 65-69 average to a 74 average by meeting standards during the intersession courses.  Credit recovery registration found here:  

AFTER-SCHOOL TUTORIAL:  Parents, we have 15 “Instructional Days” before our students have the opportunity to prove their hard work on the GA Milestones Assessment.  Please remember we are currently offering after-school tutorial support Monday – Thursday and transportation is provided.  If interested, please have your student pick up an application from their Homeroom teacher, front office or contact Ms. Vernon at  

SOFTBALL TRYOUTS:  Lady Bulldogs who are interested in trying out for the softball team next year should see Coach Porter in room C-24 for important information regarding Spring try-outs. Spring conditioning will start the week after Spring Break.

8TH Grade Update:  8th grade students are going to the GA Aquarium this Friday-Mar 22nd.  Please be reminded of the lunch options of a school sack lunch or lunch from home. All students will finalize lunch selections with Mrs. Rivers-Byrd by tomorrow, March 18th.

PBIS:  Our next School-wide PBIS Celebration on March 29th, students must meet the following criteria (Feb 11- Mar 29): 


Please encourage your student to work on assignments, projects and complete any missing assignments given by their teachers to ensure their best grades and eligibility to participate.


·         CMS PTA appreciates everyone's participation in the World's Finest Chocolate fundraiser.  We ask that any remaining chocolate and/or money be turned in to the Parent Center or Front office.  Thank you for your support!

·         (March 21st) CMS PTA will host a Taste of Conyers Middle School Cultural Food Tasting during lunch times. Please ask your child for their flyer & permission slip to participate or visit the CMS website for more information. (See attachments)

·         (March 23rd / 8:30a - 1:30p) 16th Annual RCPS Parent Academy. This event is FREE for parents and  teens and also includes door prizes & lunch.  Childcare is free with pre-registration. Students were given forms to take home with available classes.  Register online at

·         (Now until March 28th) Several CMS students have their artwork on display at the RCPS Visual Arts Student Exhibit (Nancy Guinn Library).  If you have time in your schedule, please be sure to stop by and support our students.

·   Mar 22  – Fri (5p) – Conyers Cup Track Meet (Davis, Edwards, Memorial) at HHS.
