Greetings CMS Families:  Welcome to the update for Week 21.

ATTENDANCE:  Parents attendance over these next few months is critical to our success. Maximizing instructional time will be the key determinant in overall student achievement.  We need your help in making sure attendance and code of conduct compliance are met each day to ensure instructional time is not interrupted.  World-Class achievement is our goal!

STEM Camp (February Break):  We are exploring the idea of offering an enrichment camp during the February Break to all CMS students.  The camp would be centered around highly-engaging interactive learning modules covering Robotics / Coding / Mathematics /  Fine Arts & Community Service.  The camp would operate Mon-Thur ( (February 18-21, 8a-12p) under current school leadership and teacher/staff volunteers for a fee of $50 per student.  The fee covers teacher pay, mid-morning snack and all needed supplies to make each student's experience a successful one.  Please complete this quick interest survey to assist us with determining the level of community interest and needs.

TUTORIAL SUPPORT:  Our ENCORE after-school tutorial program will resume Monday, February 4. Students who participated last semester will be automatically registered for this semester. Transportation will resume for these students, as well.  Applications received in December have been submitted to transportation. Students may begin Monday, February 4th.  Students who are interested in tutorials this semester, but did not participate first semester, may pick up an application from their teachers or the front office.  Please feel free to forward questions or concerns to Ms. Vernon at   You may also use Rockdale Virtual Campus online tutoring.  The core subject schedule and link for Student Online Support is under our Tutoring Tab on the CMS website (

PARENT SHADOW DAYS:  We are increasing our parental involvement efforts at our school, through smaller, targeted Parent Shadow Days.  If you receive an invitation to this event tomorrow afternoon from your child, please consider attending.  Mrs. Tomlinson will follow up with a direct phone call.  Thank you!

8th GRADE PARENTS:  You may continue sending in your first installment of $60 for the End-Of-Year 8th Grade Fieldtrip in the form of cash, cashier's check, or money order made out to Conyers Middle School. the 8th Grade Class Trip Packet was given out on Friday, December 7th in the Friday Folders. Please make sure that you read everything over with your child and sign all documentation. No personal checks will be accepted. If you have any questions, contact Mrs. Rivers-Byrd by e-mail at

PBIS:  The CMS-PBIS Team presents Zero Office Referrals Bash during lunch on Friday, January 18th for students who did not receive an office referral from Nov. 8th through Dec. 20th which are the last 4.5 weeks of Term 2.

·         Jan 19 - Sat (8a) - Wrestling (Conyers Cup) (David Middle)        

Donations of the items listed below for our PBIS Snack Carts are still very much appreciated.  This incentive program which has already proven to positively impact overall school-wide behavior and academic achievement:


·         Potato Chips

·         Capri Suns

·         Candy (Skittles, M&Ms, Sour Straws, etc.)

·         Powerades

Bulk purchases from Sam’s, BJ’s, or similar stores would be greatly appreciated.  Please bring donated items to Ms. Lillian Tomlinson in our Parent Center.
