Overview of Programs

Engineering & Technology (Aerospace & Robotics), Computer Science, Audio Visual Technology
The Center for Technology and Engineering includes multiple pathways – Aerospace Engineering, Robotics, Computer Science, AV Technology – which provide clear educational and career pathways for middle school students with connecting pathways at the high school level.

The program provides enhanced opportunities for the inquisitive student who is looking for an adventure in exploration and discovery. Students have numerous opportunities to gain exposure to today’s innovations through a customized DOE approved curriculum. Students enjoy opportunities to participate in a variety of field trips and learning activities to keep them challenged and inspired.

Specifically, the Engineering & Technology pathways at Conyers Middle School are designed to help students build a strong knowledge base and develop skills related to engineering and technology industries including local and federal safety issues, aerospace careers, video production careers, transportation components, tools and equipment, current and alternative fuel sources, oral and written communication, and related physical science principles. Students are exposed to flight using two existing state-of-the-art Redbird TD2 FAA approved flight simulators and a 25 seat Microsoft Flight Simulator Lab with joystick flight controls. Using this exciting technology, students can select their own missions and aircraft types to work at their own pace in a student centered, student driven curriculum.

In addition, we have a Drone Flight Lab with embedded curriculum teaches students the basics of drone flight, adherence to FAA regulations, and the requirements to obtain a commercial FAA Drone Pilot License.

Additional enrichment activities include participation in our local Civil Air Patrol Squadron (membership is voluntary), field trips to visit our partners such as Delta Airlines and Middle Georgia State College. In addition, Aerospace Engineering students may attend the Delta Airlines sponsored National Flight Academy in Pensacola, FL, each summer.

A Message from the Principal

Welcome to the Center for Technology & Engineering (CTE), a strong community of learners.
The world is ever evolving and the employment competition is far-reaching. Conyers Middle School is positioned and prepared to assure that our learners are able to advance in a world of careers awaiting to be created. In fact, our students will create careers yet to be imagined! In both theory and practice, the future of our country depends on the students of today. Our vision begins with our students. Through an intentional lifeline connection with our district strategic plan which serves as the heartbeat of our mission and as the compass for our direction, the CTE boasts amazing academies staffed with highly qualified and industry certified educators and a comprehensive curriculum.

Situated on the beautiful campus of Conyers Middle School in the heart of Conyers, Georgia, the Center for Technology & Engineering, a renovated and reimagined facility, is a platform of opportunity built around one common purpose – your child’s success. The CTE fosters an environment focused on innovation, technology, and engineering. Working independently and in collaborative teams, students will complete rigorous, real-world assignments and projects that prepare them for post-secondary ambitions. Elective courses will include computer science and engineering design. Hallmarks of the CTE are a competitive robotics programs and NASA Explorer School partnership. Under the pillars of student leadership and governance, we will develop college and career-ready, global learners who will use industry-leading technology to solve problems while gaining skills in communication, collaboration, critical-thinking, and creativity.

As an investor in learning, we invite you to partner with us and share your time, talent, and resources to assist us as we work together to realize Dr. Seuss’ vision of “Oh, the places they can go!” The Center is a place of active learning, where all stakeholders work together to encourage students to become enthusiastic lifelong learners who daily model our belief that excellence is the standard.

Come grow with us as we engineer excellence!
